Dozens of people started filing into the Showgrounds from 7.30am this morning, lining up at the entry gates for the grand opening of the 2015 Queensland Outdoor Adventure and Motoring Expo. Many said they wanted to get first chop at the best deals with quite a few arriving earlier in the week to actually camp on site to get easy access to the event and be first in the gates.
Event organiser, Bob Carroll from Australian Events said that the event had grown so much bigger this year that he has had to provide a second access point to the grounds via Gate 4 on Harvey Road.
“This event has kept on growing and is now recognised as one of the premier events in Australia for the caravan and leisure industries. Combine that fact with the amazing weather we are experiencing plus the Legends of League game on in Toowoomba on Saturday night and you have an absolute bonanza of free spending tourists from across South Queensland about to descend on this great city. People are that excited! Our web site crashed yesterday under the weight on line enquiries and our office phone has been ringing off the hook. It will be a great weekend.”
There’s over $16,000 worth of prizes to be won at the Expo, including a camping and outdoor adventure package worth $6,350-00 courtesy of Anaconda’s new mega store in Toowoomba. Entry coupons for the Anaconda package are in the Toowoomba Chronicle every day and will also be in the Event Guide at the event. Fishing gear, camp ovens, cook books and a North Queensland holiday are also up for grabs.
“We have increased activities on site to include a 4×4 demonstration track, the Shimano Fishing Show, Camp Oven Cooking with Ranger Nick, a major camping gear sale in the Founders Pavilion, free rides for kids and an event train that will help ferry people around the ever increasing event site.”
The Queensland Outdoor Adventure and Motoring Expo opens at the Toowoomba Showgrounds today from 9am to 5pm, 9am to 5pm Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday. Entry and off street parking is at two locations. At the end of Glenvale Road and also via gate 4 on Harvey Road.
