Almost 10,000 people attended last weekend’s Toowoomba Spring Home Show and Camping and Leisure Expo at the Toowoomba Showgrounds.
Australian Events Director Corporate Development Greg Johnson described the three-day event as “perfectly sunny, perhaps too perfectly sunny!
“We all know how dry the Toowoomba Regional Council area is and how much we are all praying for rain, but the weekend didn’t provide a drop with Sunday, in particular, being on the oppressive side. No doubt that fact would have kept a few people away from the show.
“Nevertheless, our 150 exhibitors were kept very busy with a steady stream of patrons over the three days. Indeed many exhibitors reported excellent sales and, not surprisingly, pool and spa exhibitors were keenly sought after.”
The event displayed something for everyone with house construction, household items and over 50’s living taking up the majority of exhibition spaces closely followed by caravans, camper trailers and accessories.
Australian Events trialled a program of exhibitor demonstrations on stage. Twelve, mainly local, exhibitors paraded everything from solar solutions and paving to puddings and olives.
Mr Johnson said, “It was pleasing to see the large turn out by local and regional exhibitors. These events represent the perfect way for local growers and retailers to get to meet a very large number of consumers in one place, over a short time and establish relationships that will translate into ongoing, local buying decisions.
“Australian Events supports the “Shop Local. Buy Local” message in all communities and sees its many shows and expos across the state as important drivers in local economic activity.
“Given Toowoomba’s place as an economic leader in the nation it’s not surprising that we will be convening a number of events at “home” in 2015 including the 17/18 June Surat Basin Energy and Mining Expo, 31 July-2 August Queensland Outdoor and Motoring Expo and 23-25 October Toowoomba Spring Home Show and Camping and Leisure Expo.”
