Thirteen thousand Townsville citizens took the opportunity to attend last weekend’s Townsville Caravan Camping Expo plus Home and Outdoor Living Ideas at Cluden Park.
The show, which was convened by Queensland company Australian Events, attracted a record crowd to the annual, iconic Townsville event.
Australian Events Director Bob Carroll said “The show had an increase in patronage of a staggering 50% over the equivalent 2013 Show.”
Over one hundred exhibitors descended on the Turf Club with many coming from across the state and as far afield as Victoria, plus good representation from Townsville itself.
Mr Carroll said the “range of vans, vehicles and other products and services never ceases to amaze me – caravans, camper trailers, off-road vehicles, motor bikes, camping equipment, banking and finance, pools, health and wellbeing options, education and hundreds of other goods and services filled the grounds.
“We were overwhelmed by the response. It demonstrated to us that the people of Townsville and district are quite optimistic about the economic future for the area as these types of shows usually attract individuals who are thinking about recreation alternatives or investment in home and lifestyle.”
It was the Show’s first visit to Cluden Park and Mr Carroll said that he was impressed with the amenities, particularly as they lend themselves to further major expansion in the size of the show.
The Australian Events team will be back in 2015 with an even bigger show and Mr Carroll urged more Townsville businesses to exhibit. He added, “after all, this show is about Townsville, it promotes the Shop Local/Buy Local message and brings citizens together to learn, share and network.”
