Brilliant weather greeted the 11,000 Mackay citizens who took the opportunity to attend last weekend’s Mackay Caravan, Camping and Boating Expo plus Spring Home Show at the Mackay Showgrounds.

The show, which was convened by Queensland company Australian Events, attracted a huge crowd to the bi-annual, iconic Mackay event.

Australian Events Director Bob Carroll said “Despite reports of a flat economy Mackay citizens demonstrated a significant degree of consumer confidence by turning out in greater numbers than at the previous event.”

Over one hundred exhibitors descended on the Showgrounds with many coming from across the state and as far afield as Victoria, plus good representation from Mackay itself.

Mr Carroll said the “range of vans, vehicles and other products and services never ceases to amaze me – caravans, camper trailers, off-road vehicles, motor boats, camping equipment, pools, solar systems, health insurance, health and wellbeing options, and hundreds of other goods and services filled the grounds.

“Almost without exception exhibitors and patrons reported absolute satisfaction with the event and the goods and services on display. Indeed exhibitors reported good sales at the event as well as important leads to subsequently follow-up.”

The Australian Events team will be back in 2015 with an even bigger show and Mr Carroll urged more Mackay businesses to exhibit. He added, “After all, this show is about Mackay, it promotes the Shop Local/Buy Local message and brings citizens together to learn, share and network.”
