There’s nothing worse than showing up to an event and realising you’ve forgotten something important. Showing up prepared also makes it easier to engage with customers right off the bat, because you don’t have to spend time looking for someone to borrow from.
Australian Events Marketing know that the lead up to an event can be a stressful time, so we’ve put together this handy list of things you should bring, even if you don’t think you need them!
1. Promotional material – it might surprise you, but businesses often forget to bring their brochures, magazines and flyers to their events, so they have nothing to hand out to prospective customers.
2. Business card holders – they’re much neater than having a pile of business cards on the table, and you can place them front and centre so that customers can quickly grab a card on their way past.
3. Tablecloths – let’s be honest, most venue tables don’t look their best. Bring along a tablecloth or two (in your colours!) to tidy up your space and make your business look professional.
4. Scissors – you don’t want to be caught with something between your teeth! It’s always handy to have a pair of scissors around, just in case there’s a knot you can’t untie or a strap you can’t get loose.
5. Rubber bands and paper weights – the weather can be unpredictable at the best of times, so it’s a good idea to have something handy to hold all of your paper together, should things go south.
6. Water weights and sandbags – when it comes to unpredictable weather, sudden wind can be the most troublesome. If you have to, it’s worthwhile to have weights on hand to hold down your larger items, and sandbags can be especially handy if your site is in a no-peg zone!
7. Safety pins – they’re not just good for wardrobe emergencies! Safety pins have a ton of unconventional uses, and you never know what you might need them for.
8. Hand sanitiser – you’re going to shake hundreds, if not thousands, of hands over the weekend, so it’s probably a good idea to sanitise before you take your lunch break.
9. Wire, string and zipties – disasters can happen, so it’s smart to have something on hand you can use in a pinch. Signs can tip over, displays can fall down – just tie them up with a handy bit of string, and you’re back on track for a fantastic event!
10. Pens! – we all know how embarrassing it is to ask for a pen after you’ve offered to write something down, so bring a spare pen or five to your event site, to make sure that doesn’t happen to you. They’re handy to have around in case technology fails you on the day, too.
We hope this list will help you be better prepared for your next event. We want you to succeed, so we are always here to help.
