Queensland Company Australian Events today launched a brand new industry Expo for Townsville.

The “North Queensland Transport, Trades and Mining Expo”, which will be convened at Reid Park from 17-19 April, will bring together exhibitors and experts from throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Several thousand delegates will attend from the local area, across the Nation and overseas.

Australian Events convened an expo in the city earlier in the year and subsequently undertook extensive research to gain input from both exhibitors and patrons.

The Company’s Director Corporate Development Greg Johnson said: “Resources and mining often spring to mind when people are thinking economic opportunity, but our research has shown that there is much more to the economic equation than those two components.

“Our exhibitors told us that they wanted an event that also took account of other important industries and activities including heavy vehicles, transport, trades, agriculture, storage/warehousing, safety and scaffolding – we listened. Thus the new Expo title includes the words Transport’ and Trades.”

Reid Park was chosen because the venue offers both wide open areas for heavy vehicles, excavators and earth moving equipment as well as covered areas for exhibitors displaying a vast range of products and services.

Mr Johnson said: “This year almost 2,000 people attended the event. We’ll be carefully targeting our marketing across Australia and beyond in order to grow that number to at least 3,000. We are conscious of the need to ensure that delegates are people with a genuine interest in the key industries.”

He concluded by saying: “These are exciting times for Townsville and North Queensland. The 2015 North Queensland Transport, Trades and Mining Expo will be the perfect forum for attendees to make key investment decisions, to learn, to share and to network.”
