Experience and demand drives new Beef event

Decades of experience and knowledge are behind the creation of a brand new event that will be staged at one of Queensland’s premier venues, the Toowoomba Showgrounds which is the home of the Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland.

The Queensland Beef Expo and Farming Field Days was created by, and will be managed by, one of Australia’s leading event management companies, Australian Events, which also has its’ home base in Toowoomba.

The director of Australian Events, Bob Carroll has over thirty years’ experience in staging and managing field days, exhibitions, special events and festivals around Australia. Mr Carroll said that he has always held a keen interest in events for the promotion of farming and felt that the time was right to introduce an event that was specifically dedicated to showcasing the very latest products and services needed to produce the very best beef in the world.

“We have high standards in Australia but the key focus right now is on growing more Beef and expanding existing herds to meet with the extraordinary demand for Australian Beef. Combine that with the unfolding success of Wellcamp West International Airport and the looming developments of new abattoirs and an international standard intermodal hub, second range crossing and the inland rail and you have the very best backdrop possible for an event like this to be introduced. The need is there and the interest from the beef producers is certainly there too”.

The inaugural event kicks off with the 2016 Industry Forum and Dinner on Wednesday evening, 31^st August. The function sponsored by Performance Feeds will feature key note presenters who will look specifically at the Beef Industry in South Queensland and the opportunities before us in this region over the next 5 to 10 years as well as topical issues like the changing face of bio security.

The event will showcase over 100 exhibiting companies with everything from agricultural and cattle equipment to earthmoving, tanks, fencing and cattle breeders. There will also be new product demonstrations, working dog trials and a host of other informative seminars and displays.

Alongside the exhibition and field days, Elders and Landmark will conduct the annual Spring Classic All Breed Sale. The sale features 165 lots and 8 different cattle breeds. The auction kicks off at 10am sharp on Thursday 1^st September within the event precinct.

The Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland will be arranging and judging the Led Steer and Heifer Competition, with over $5000 in prizes up for grabs and the CEO of the RAS said that they were over the moon with record entries already received with more to come. Weigh in takes place at midday on Friday 2^nd September, while the judging takes place at midday on Saturday 3^rd September.

The event is also calling out for all ladies to attend the Women on the Land High Tea, presented by Fairholme College. The High Tea takes place in the Marquee Pavilion on Saturday 3^rd September where the ladies will enjoy a glass of champagne, tea and coffee, sweets and savoury treats while listening to inspirational guest speakers. Part proceeds of ticket sales will be donated to the Drought Angels.

Gates to the event are open from 9am to 5pm on Thursday 1^st September and Friday 2^nd September, and 9am to 4pm on Saturday 3^rd September.
