Two more COVID Safe Caravan Camping Expos took place in Queensland over the last two weekends, attracting crowds in excess of 20,500 people in the Central Queensland and Wide Bay regions.
The Fraser Coast Expo saw the Maryborough Showgrounds transformed into a hub of activity over three days in early August, with the entire venue packed full of caravans, camper trailers, boats, fishing gear, 4x4s, vehicle accessories, home and lifestyle products and more.
The Rockhampton Expo took place last weekend at the Rockhampton Showgrounds and had similarly fantastic results, with an influx of locals supporting the industry.
Despite attendance for the events being down slightly on previous years, both Expos were hailed as major successes by both Queensland Health and the event organisers, Australian Events Marketing.
Company director Bob Carroll was pleased with the attendance for both events despite the drop in numbers, as attendees were serious about making purchases and investing in local business.
“There may have been less people through the gate, but the ones that came were here with a purpose and they were spending, which is what we want. Feedback from our exhibitors suggests that they are getting more serious buyers looking at their products and representatives are being able to spend more quality time with patrons.”
Events like the Fraser Coast Expo and the Rockhampton Expo make it clear that large events are great for more than just the attending industries. Local businesses are also feeling the positive effects, with many thankful to see the return of events to Queensland.
“We have received a lot of really positive feedback from the local shops, businesses and members of the public, who have told us they were so pleased that we had made the effort to host these events and bring business back to the region,” Mr Carroll said.
These events mark the third and fourth COVID Safe Events to be hosted by Australian Events Marketing in Queensland, and they expect to host six more before November.
