The first major exhibition to be held under Queensland’s strict COVID-safe regulations – the 2020 Gold Coast Expo – took place at the Gold Coast Turf Club last weekend and it has been hailed a success!
After working closely with the Gold Coast Public Health Unit for over two months in an effort to get the COVID Safe Event Plan approved, event organisers Australian Events were able to run the first expo in Queensland since the coronavirus pandemic began.
The event was under close scrutiny by officials from both Queensland Health and Queensland Police. A team of senior health inspectors attended the event on Saturday, and the COVID Unit from Queensland Police were on site on Sunday to inspect the event.
All were very impressed with the systems, layout and event set up, and were particularly impressed with the addition of ‘Social Distancing Ambassadors’ to the event, who guided people to avoid queuing and maintain physical distance from one another.
Work is already underway with local Queensland Health departments across Queensland to finalise COVID Safe plans for a further eight Australian Events events throughout the state before November.
The next COVID-Safe Event to be run in Queensland will be the Queensland Outdoor Adventure and Motoring Expo, from Friday 31 July – Sunday 2 August at the Toowoomba Showgrounds. In line with the events approved COVID Safe Event Plan, all tickets must be pre-purchased online at www.AdventureExpo.com.au.
